The picture above the mantle is a needlepoint my husband's mother did back in 1982.
My iPhone photo doesn't do it justice, it's so lovely with all it's intricate stitching.
On the hearth is a Flexible Flier sled a friend of mine got in Pennsylvania at an Amish auction. I decorated it with a simple bow, berries, & greenery.
Snowmen, sleds, & mittens are everywhere in my winter decor!
(Our home is patterned after a cabin/lodge & sits in the middle of some woods. Not much snow in Georgia, but snowmen remind me of growing up in Iowa.)
The ice skate & snowman head were purchased last year on eBay.
I painted the sign in the center that says it all......
SNOWMAN COLLECTOR!!
My 'blazing' tree is one of 5 that I decorated (instead of 1 big tree this year) & the tall snowman came from Hobby Lobby a couple years ago.
One more photo of the lovely picture:
Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet my husband's mother before she passed away.
I hope she knows how much I treasure her needlework......and her son!

Hi Sherry...from Sherri. Another GA gal, JUST down the road from you. I LOVE your mantle!! I was just thinking I needed to clean up the sled in the barn to bring in and sit on our fireplace. I may just have to do that tomorrow. I decorated my mantle tonight and am about to put together the post. I LOVE barns too. Are we twins? LOL
ReplyDeleteYour mantle is so pretty and the entire fireplace is amazing. I love it!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
