Christmas Mantle at My House

This photo is of our fireplace...I took it as I was racing out the door this AM!!

The picture above the mantle is a needlepoint my husband's mother did back in 1982.
My iPhone photo doesn't do it justice, it's so lovely with all it's intricate stitching.

Above it is a jingle bell wreath I bought last year (75% off at Kohl's).
On the hearth is a Flexible Flier sled a friend of mine got in Pennsylvania at an Amish auction.  I decorated it with a simple bow, berries, & greenery.
Snowmen, sleds, & mittens are everywhere in my winter decor!
(Our home is patterned after a cabin/lodge & sits in the middle of some woods.  Not much snow in Georgia, but snowmen remind me of growing up in Iowa.)
The ice skate & snowman head were purchased last year on eBay.
I painted the sign in the center that says it all......
My 'blazing' tree is one of 5 that I decorated (instead of 1 big tree this year) & the tall snowman came from Hobby Lobby a couple years ago.

One more photo of the lovely picture:

Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet my husband's mother before she passed away.
I hope she knows how much I treasure her needlework......and her son!

  1. You house is charming and this mantle is beautiful. That is a very large needlepoint and I know you treasure it. ♥O

  2. Well the fireplace itself is gorgeous so with the Christmas decor it is just the icing on the cake. Looks great!

  3. how lovely and thoughtful of you to say. how nice you have that lovely piece of her in the needlepoint. It is beautiful.
Your pic should be made into a greeting card!!!

  4. This is one of my favorite mantel/fireplace's out of all the ones I have seen so far! Very homey and rustic!

  5. Rustic-chic perfection. The needlepoint is amazing and a treasure for sure. You did a great job.

I host a link party on Sundays called Sentimental Sunday where you can link up any sentimental decor you have, I would you to show off your needlepoint.

    Nice to meet you,
    Cha Cha

  6. Hi Sherry...from Sherri. Another GA gal, JUST down the road from you. I LOVE your mantle!! I was just thinking I needed to clean up the sled in the barn to bring in and sit on our fireplace. I may just have to do that tomorrow. I decorated my mantle tonight and am about to put together the post. I LOVE barns too. Are we twins? LOL

  7. Your mantle is so pretty and the entire fireplace is amazing. I love it!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  8. Oh how I could curl up in front of that fireplace with a good book!

    Take care,

  9. What a beautiful mantle :) Love, love, love the needle point picture!
